Venue:  Fire Service College, Moreton in Marsh

UKSpill is the national body for the UK Oil Spill Industry.  UKSpill members are renowned for and offer world class standards of Prevention, Preparedness, Response and Restoration of Oil Spills.

This event will be a follow up to the workshop held last September, with a review of the developments resulting from the EDR regulations given by Tim Elliott of Elliott Environmental Surveyors, with input from the Environment Agency.  Speakers include the chair of the Oil Spill Group of the Emergency Planning Society, and the afternoon session will be devoted to the first meeting of the new UKSpill Technical Committee.

Elliott Environmental Surveyors (EES) are Full Corporate Members of UK Spill and are experts in providing environmental risk assessment when spills impact on soils and controlled waters.  We have also provided training to regulators on these aspects.  From site investigation and quantitative risk modelling, to risk management strategies and validation reporting EES is ideally placed to address post spill needs.  We understand that often many stakeholders are involved and offer practical and workable solutions as well as client and regulator liaison.

The Impact of the Environmental Damage Regulations 2009

Time & Date:  09-00 – 11.00 Thursday July 2 2009

Venue:            The Willis Building, 51 Lime Street, London EC3M 7DQ

The EU Environmental Liabilities Directive has already been transposed in England and Wales and is almost complete in Scotland and Northern Ireland. This is a hugely significant piece of legislation which has the potential to affect any RICS member, particularly Chartered Rural and Environmental Surveyors. However, there is a limited supply of information on it and many of those potentially affected are unaware of it and its implications. Especially significant is the potential implications to your professional indemnity insurance cover and your capacity to advise clients on the consequences in this change in the law.

This half-day event will take place at the spectacular Willis Building in the heart of London's financial district. Included in the line up of speakers will be the Environment and Resource Board representative, Tim Elliott, who will be speaking on his forthcoming Information Paper on this Regulation. Also speaking will be delegates from the experts on the subject from the Willis group as well as risk specialists from the XL Group
